Super teacher tools

Our work in May

We worked hard in May, we did some cut and paste activities such as weather puppets, weather songs, clothes worksheets and others, listened to the songs and of course used web 2.0 tools.

Fruit salad

The sweetest part of the project was fruit salad. Student prepared fruit salads, saying the names of the fruits they add into it. and then we played a magnet game about fruit on the board: one of the students was saying the name of the fruit while others tried to find its magnet before his/her opponent did it.

Actionbound

Actionbound is a web 2.0 tool which is used to prepare game for mobile application. In order to use it you should prepare the content on the computer and then download the mobile app, after scanning the square code you can play the games you have prepared. My 2nd grade students enjoyed it a lot.

Xpresso

xpresso is a mobile app for making gifs, simple short animations. we used it when we learned about the physical appearance. Students created an avatar, and then described its physical appearance.

Breaking news generator

Breaking news generator on Classtools. we used it to talk about the weather with the 3rd graders. It was funny, they played their roles as real weather forecast presenters and enjoyed playing the roles very much.

April work

Quiver

Quiver is an amazing tool. With Quiver my student's colouring worksheet  turned into real animations. We coloured the workcheets about pets and transportation and then really had fun. It became the favourite web 2.0 of my 2nd graders.

Thinglink

Thinglink is an interactive image designing tool. let me say it was one of our best collaborative works. Every school was supposed to prepare a video about the weather conditions in their city and after that an interactive weather forecast thinglink was prepared. you can see it on this link.

March work

Jeopardy

Jeopardy is one of the best games for language learners, it makes them motivated, and at the same time the students revise what they have learned earlier. you can create your own game by visiting https://jeopardylabs.com/

Lucidpress

Lucidpress is a great designing tool. you can create magazines, journals, broshures using it. My students prepared a poster about Antalya, using Lucidpress, and then it became a part of a journal about Turkey, one of our collaborative works. You can read it here.

February work

Here is a short video about our February work, for this project. We not only use web 2.0 tools but also make some cut and stick activities, listen to the songs and sometimes dance with them. Learning English is a great fun for us.

SID 2019

My students and I prepared a board for the Safer Internet Day.

Jigsawplanet

Jigsawplanet is an amazing tool to create and play puzzles. We have played a puzzle about the house parts during the lesson. You can find it here.  Students enjoyed it very much. They even competed to each other in order to make it as quickly as possible.

Biteable

Biteable is a great web 2.0 tool to create videos and animations. The founder of the project Selda teacher has created for us an animation about Science and experiments using Biteable. Here is the link.

Students' webinar

Our students get acquainted to each other online. We had webinars, actually a series of webinars for students at the beginning and at the end of the project

Making toys

When we studied toys in English, we decided to make some toys using waste materials recycling them. It was wonderful. Children were so creative, they even worked in groups to make something really interesting. I admired their works, they are talented. I wish "making toys" was a subject at school, co that students could show what they can do.

Pixil art

Our first collaborative work was a calendar, created with pixel art colourings, we were learning colours at that time :) You can find the Calendar on our twinspace here. we used Canva, pixel art and Paint to create it. And this is our part of the calendar coloured by my students

Storyjumper

Storyjumper is an awesome way to write a book. The students were so proud that they could write and create their first book in English. It was a nice experience. They wrote an e-book about daily routines. You can see it on this link.

Voki

Voki is used in order to create speaking characters for education. Here students create their characters and enjoy the work. We also prepared a worksheet for it to fill  the gaps while our character was talking.

New Year Cards

And, of course, we exchanged New Year cards with our partners. here you can see the cards we prepared and the cards which we received.

Powtoon

Powtoon is an easy way to create effective videos about whatever you want. find an example of one created for our project.

eTwinning Day

our next collaborative work was a video about eTwinning day. every school prepared a short piece of the video explaining what eTwinning is for them. eTwinning is the thing that make us learn together, it is inspiration for students and teachers

Genial.ly

Genial.ly is an awesome way to creat interesting content for the classroom. All you need is to register and create your own extraordinary exercises.

Emaze

Emaze is a great way to create colourful presentations. you can find lots of templates to use.

Quizlet

Quizlet is a step by step way to learn and memorize new words. Here students not only recognize the words and learn their spelling, they also have to write the words acording to what they listen. Teachers can prepare the groups of flashcards with or without pictures about everything they like. Watch the video about how we used quizlet in our clasroom.

Cram

Cram is probably one of the most popular game for the language learning classroom. First, you prepare some flash cards for your students and after they learn new words they play a matching jewels game. It is awesome.We used this tool many times

Bingo with numbers

We played Bingo game about numbers with the 3rd grades. So they had to listen and recognize the numbers from 1 to 20 in English. It was great.

Classroom objects

We played Bingo abour classroom objects, and had a lot of fun. Oh, my dear student, she cried of happiness when she won the game :)

The 23th of April

The 23th of April is really a special day for Children in Turkey. It it the present for them from Atatürk. And we made a very special collaborative work, our students read a poem about the 23th of April in English. Hope you like it.

Plotagon

Plotagon is a tool where you can create your avatar and make them talk. Students like this tool a lot because at the same time they are creating an animation. See an example of it for the 4th grade "My hobby" unit

Puzzel.org

We used puzzel.org web 2.0 for nationalities. Here you can find memory cards and the students have to match them. This is a great listening and memorizing activity for every language learner.

Tiny Cards

then we used tiny cards web 2.0. It is so cute. Students liked it most of all. It helps to memorize the new words  and their spelling quickly.

Learning apps

We also used learning apps activities for many times. This web 2.0 hs a great variety of activities and they support your language classroom. Students feel like they are just playing the game, but actually they unconsiously learn new words.

Plickers

We used Plickers web 2.0 tool for all units we have issued before the project started. I found this tool very useful for making an evaluation of the students knowledge and for consolidation of  the materials they've learned earlier. It is a kind of elecronic test, where the teacher prepares the questions and the students answer them using cards. My students found Plickers very interesting, they thought it was a kind of game. For me, the advantage of this web 2.0 is that you don't have to control the papers of the students by yourself, the system does for you and the students learn the results of the tests immediately. In order to use plickers you need a smart board to show the questions for students and the phone application to scan the cards.

Webinars

then we had our first webinar and planned the activities and shared ideas about them. We had all in all 6 webinars. and we really enjoyed working together. we are more than just project partners, we became friends to each other. I wish this project last forever :)

The introduction of partner schools

Let's get acquainted

Welcome to my project learning diary. My name is Alyona. I am an English teacher at Kepez Primary school. Together with my students I participate in "My first English with plays" eTwinning project this year. And I am going to share the things I have learned from the project here in this blog. good luck to all of the partner schools, teachers and students. I hope this project will have a great success :)
